Friday Evening: Settle In & Savor Local Flavors

  • Arrive & Unwind: Check into one of Warwick’s charming local inns, such as Peach Grove House (just outside the Village), or a cozy Airbnb.
  • Culinary Welcome: Begin your weekend just outside the Village, and take in a bit of Warwick history as you dine at Old Stone House Restaurant. Originally built in the 1700s, this historic building underwent an extensive renovation to create the unique, intimate dining environment it is today. Offering a Contemporary American cuisine, the locally-inspired menu is a delicious and memorable way to kick off your fall escape.

Saturday: Outdoor Adventures & Orchard Delights

  • Morning Trail Bliss: Start your day with a hike. The Appalachian Trail offers accessible sections near Warwick, providing breathtaking views of the changing leaves. Our favorite section is the “Stairway to Heaven” section (just over the state line in NJ), which is a shorter, moderately strenuous segment of the trail offering sweeping 180-degree views at the top. Alternatively, explore the serene paths of Wawayanda State Park (also just over the state line) for a gentler walk amidst hidden waterfalls and tranquil lakes.
  • Orchard Immersion: No fall visit to Warwick is complete without an apple orchard experience. Spend your afternoon at a beloved local spot like Pennings Farm Market. Enjoy apple picking, cider donuts, fresh-pressed cider, and perhaps a hard cider tasting. It’s a true taste of the Hudson Valley’s agricultural heritage.
  • Best of the Breweries: If apples and cider aren’t quite your preference, Warwick boasts excellent craft breweries nearby. The Drowned Lands Farm Brewery is a true destination, renowned for its terroir philosophy and stunning, grounded aesthetic. Located on the revitalized campus of the former correctional facility, it offers expansive indoor and outdoor seating, with a picturesque second-floor deck. If you’ve worked up an appetite or skipped the morning hike, take a walk or run at the adjacent Wickham Woodlands Park—then claim your reward with their acclaimed brews and an artisanal food menu designed to satisfy your post-adventure appetite.
  • Farm-to-Table Dinner: For dinner, indulge in a truly Culinary Destination experience. Warwick boasts exceptional restaurants that prioritize seasonal, local ingredients from the surrounding preserved farmlands. A must-try is The Grange, one of our favorite farm-to-table experiences. Since this spot features a smaller, intimate setting, reservations are highly encouraged!

Sunday: Holistic Harmony & Departure

  • Wellness Wake-Up: Begin your Sunday with a focus on well-being. Enjoy a peaceful yoga session at a local studio or take a walk around Stanley-Deming Park in the quiet morning light. If you’re up for something more active, go for a kayak on Greenwood Lake about 10 minutes from the village.
  • A Taste of the Community: If your visit aligns with a Sunday morning, be sure to experience the Warwick Valley Farmers’ Market (open through November 23rd). It’s the perfect place to grab fresh fall produce, artisan goods, and meet the dedicated local growers.
  • Brunch & Browse: Savor a delicious brunch at a Local Staple in the village, like Cafe e Dolce (known for their crepes!), or a charming café on Main Street such as Rusty Goat Grill. Afterwards, take your time browsing the unique boutiques, antique shops, and art galleries that line Warwick’s Main Street.
  • Catch The Game: What’s fall without football? If you’re not quite ready to head home, a local’s favorite to watch the game is Halligan’s Public House.
  • Scenic Drive: Conclude your weekend with a deeply rewarding drive through the back roads of Warwick. The community’s commitment to land preservation is beautifully evident here; the unspoiled fields and majestic autumn views showcase a landscape that is intentionally protected. It’s a final reminder of why the homes here are set within a marvel of natural beauty, giving you a lasting memory of your fall escape. (If you haven’t already, be sure to drive through Warwick Grove!)
