Pearl River High School Athletic Awards Ceremony 2025
It was a truly special evening last week at the Pearl River High School Athletic Awards Ceremony, a night brimming with talent, dedication, and a powerful sense of community. As a proud Pearl River alumni, I felt incredibly honored to be back among familiar faces, witnessing the remarkable achievements of the graduating class. The bond within this community, which shaped so much of my own life, remains as strong and inspiring as ever.

The night was profoundly moving, celebrating not only the athletic talents of these exceptional young adults but also the unwavering support of their coaches and families. It was so special to see so many scholarships presented in remembrance of cherished loved ones, each scholarship serving as a testament to the dedication the graduating class has, the lasting impact individuals can have on our community, and ensuring the spirit of our community continues to inspire new generations.
This year marked a significant milestone for me personally, as it was my first time presenting the “Tommys’ Scholarship.” I started Tommys’ Scholarship five years ago in 2021, honoring the memory of two friends, Tommy Scognamiglio and Tommy Argenti. Their lives, though cut short, continue to touch all who knew them. Tommy and Tommy were truly remarkable individuals—gregarious, optimistic, and effortlessly creating a positive, convivial atmosphere wherever they went.
The “Tommys’ Scholarship” seeks to recognize Pearl River students who embody this same spirit: athletes and students who demonstrate true leadership and actively promote a positive and friendly environment within their teams and the broader student body. They are the ones who carry an optimistic attitude, constantly striving for the betterment of themselves and the community around them.
It was such a privilege to announce Jaclyn Mahoney and Mickey Sullivan as the 2025 Tommys’ Scholarship recipients at the Athletic Awards Ceremony. Their dedication, leadership, and positive influence perfectly encapsulate the spirit of the scholarship. While I was unable to attend the Academic Awards ceremony a few nights later, I also want to extend my heartfelt congratulations to the two academic-based scholarship recipients from this year’s class, who have also shown incredible success and embody the values of the Tommys’ Scholarship.
To all the scholarship recipients and the entire graduating class of Pearl River High School, congratulations! Your hard work, dedication, and talent are truly inspiring, and it was a privilege to be in a room full of such promising students and athletes. We can’t wait to see the incredible things you will achieve as you continue on your next chapters.
With Love, Micaela Stanaland
